PONDA: Following the 15-day deadline given by Usgao Dhavashirem Government Primary School students’ parents to boycott the classes, the government on Tuesday deputed one additional teacher for the school.
There were only three teachers for 97 students for Class I to IV and parents were demanding four more teachers.
The parents and students today had gathered to boycott the classes in protest against the shortage of teachers. However, they got a pleasant surprise as they got the fourth teacher, which was appointed on Tuesday.
PTA Chairman Ulhas Satarkar said, “Earlier parents had made several memorandums demanding four teachers but it was fallen on deaf ears. Finally, a 15 days deadline was issued to the Assistant Director of Education Inspector (ADEI) to appoint one additional teacher or else the students and parents will protest.”
He said, “For 97 Students only three teachers were insufficient and causing educational loss to the students. So, the parents were demanding additional teacher.”
Satarkar said, “Earlier there were four teachers. But after the transfer of one teacher, only three teachers are teachings which the parents say was insufficient for four classes. It was injustice done and loss to the students. Therefore, the parents were demanding at least one more teacher. As the department failed to provide a teacher they approached media giving warning of boycotting classes.”
The parents also demanded that the school classes should be started in the morning session as evening session causes hardship to the parents and stakeholders. Since no teacher is ready to teach in the evening session, the parents even arranged one spacious place to arrange classes in the morning session. However, ADEI failed to arrange budgetary provision to hire the place and pay its rent.
Earlier, the parents even met Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and informed him that the students are suffering as classes are held at evening time.
