Usgao incident: notices issued

PANJIM: The Goa State Human Rights Commission has taken suo moto cognizance of the suspected food poisoning case at St Joseph High School, Usgao and issued a notice to the education secretary, Education Department and the school authorities to file replies by August 19.

PANJIM: The Goa State Human Rights Commission has taken suo moto cognizance of the suspected food poisoning case at St Joseph High School, Usgao and issued a notice to  the education secretary, Education Department and the school authorities to file replies by August 19. 
Twenty- two students of classes V and VI were hospitalized after consuming the mid-day meals at the school last Friday. 
The two self help groups, that prepare and served the mid-day meal which consisted of pulao and patal bhaji, to students, have been booked by the Ponda police in this regard. 
The Food and Drugs Administration had collected the food samples after the incident is expected to submit its report by Friday. 
Meanwhile, the commission had also taken suo moto cognizance of the food poisoning case at the Canacona school last month in which around 86 students were taken ill after consuming the contaminated mid-day meal.
