PONDA: The call for a voluntary two-day lockdown in Usgao village was successfully implemented by all on Wednesday.
It may be recalled that after two health workers had been found positive for COVID-19, Usgao locals along with the panchyat and doctors of the Primary Heath Centre, decided on Tuesday to observe a strict lockdown and to create awareness amongst the public on the importance of staying at home and remaining alert in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the State. Residents including migrants in the village were advised to follow social distancing norms, santise themselves and to wear masks in public places.
At the same time, the locals heaved a sigh of relief as the test samples of 42 people who came in contact with the two COVID positive persons came back as negative. This included the family members of the two patients. “We are now waiting and hoping the second test report of these 42 people also comes negative,” said panch member Tulshidas Prabu.
