MARGAO: The United Tribal Associations Alliance (UTAA) welcomed the government’s decision to increase the reservation for OBC and at the same time criticised the decision on reservation for ST community for the municipalities.
While addressing media persons in Margao, former MLA Luis Cardozo felt that issues like reservation and delimitation need to be discussed at length and people should be taken into confidence.
They called on the chief minister and deputy chief minister to take cognizance off the issue and come out with a solution.
They disagreed with the new criteria for selection, and the ordinance, which could potentially see few municipalities with no reservation for STs. Finding faults with the new criteria; they felt that earlier there was a minimum of 2 reserved seats, now there would be a single seat reserved that too in 7-8 municipalities only.
