VACAD welcomes CEC’s recommendations

VASCO: The members of Villagers Action Committee Against Doubling of South Western Railway Tracks (VACAD) on Friday hailed the recommendations of the Supreme Court appointed Central Empowered Committee for scrapping of the double tracking of the South Western Railway from Tinaighat to Vasco.

“The residents of Goa, and South Goa in particular, have heaved a sigh of relief on noting these recommendations by the learned Judges who have recommended the total cancellation of the double tracking for the South Western Railway, which would have turned the lives of the people of South Goa into a living nightmare by further increasing risk to their health and livelihood,” stated VACAD in a press release.

“The recommendations of the CEC have restored the faith and trust of the people of Goa in the Judicial system, as these recommendations will ensure that our State’s fragile ecosystem is not irreversibly destroyed for the benefit of the coal mafia who want to convert Goa into a coal corridor,” it stated.

Further, the VACAD calls upon the people of the State, South Goa in particular to be united for Goa and the Goans to ensure that their human rights are not trampled upon to benefit crony capitalists.
