MAPUSA: Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said all the three panchayats in the constituency will be covered under the “Vacci-Assist” programme which will assist the people between 18 and 44 years to register themselves for vaccination.

As part of the Vacci-Assist programme, Porvorim Rising will set up camps across the constituency to register people in the above age group for the upcoming vaccination drive of the State government.

Khaunte said the registration does not mean booking of slot as state government has already said that the pre-booking of slots would be done away with during the next vaccination drive.

“Registration will help the beneficiaries to avoid lining up for registration at the centre and it would clear the rush at these centres which can also turn into super spreaders, if not managed properly,” he said.

Camps will be set up in all the three panchayats and its 31 wards, including Salvador do Mundo, Socorro and Penha de Franca, wherein each ward member will be given responsibility to identify the place for registration, he said.

Khaunte said that volunteers of Porvorim Rising would assist people to register them on the portal and provide the registration number, which can be submitted at the vaccination centre.

He said the lack of internet connectivity in certain parts had posed difficulty for those, who wanted to register on the portal.
