PANJIM: Appealing to the public at large to get themselves vaccinated, Dr Shekhar Salkar stressed on how the vaccines can help save lives and how they have and will continue to prevent deaths.
Stating that the COVID vaccine is safe, Salkar advised those who have taken the two vaccine doses to still maintain COVID appropriate behaviour as he pointed out that taking the vaccines doesn’t mean they won’t get COVID.
He explained that if a person gets COVID after taking the vaccine, the severity of the infection will be very low, lungs will not get affected as much and possibility of death is negligible.
Salkar was speaking at the BJP media cell press conference on Friday. He also rejected speculation that vaccine can cause deaths and said there have to be proper studies done such as postmortem test, medical analysis, etc, before anyone can make that claim.
Salkar said there has been adequate research done and informed opinions shared by experts about the efficacy of the vaccine and its benefits.
He was encouraging to dispel any misconception they may have about the vaccine and to attend the mega drives being organised across the State these days.
He also gave the examples of how all health workers in the State have taken both the doses and besides minor side effects, all of them are fine and healthy.
