MAPUSA: Residents of Vagator village backed by the members of Aam Admi Party marched to the office of PWD water section to confront the officers over irregular water supply problem in the village plaguing for years.
Villagers claimed that Anjuna-Caisua village panchayat is one of the largest panchayats with a maximum number of the wards, but facing water supply issue.
Alleging that PWD officials have failed to solve the water woes, AAP member Pujan Malvankar said, “The issue of irregular water supply is plaguing since a year now but no one has taken any heed of it. The pipelines supplying water to households are smaller compared to the pipeline supplying water to commercial establishments, why this injustice?”
“The residents are forced to get tankers every day but this is not a solution. We have asked the PWD Mapusa office in-charge to come and inspect the site. The PWD department set up a tank 10 years ago as a permanent solution for all these water problems but to our surprise when we went to inspect the tank, we learnt that the tank is neither operational nor there are pipes connected to the tank,” Malwankar said.
