MAPUSA: Vagator locals on Monday raised voice against sewage water allegedly being released by a hotel on the Vagator Beach.

Locals said that the sewage water is being allegedly released by a hotel, which is located right close to the beach and slammed the authorities for allowing such illegalities and causing health hazard.

They said that Vagator is a famous beach in North Goa and visited by thousands of tourists on everyday basis and witnessing such activity here is not acceptable.

“Locals visit the beach for walking as well as the tourists. The local authority or the Tourism Department should look into this matter since it is a health hazard,” they calimed.

A local Yogesh Govekar threatened to call for morcha against the hotel, if authorities fail to take action and get a permanent solution.

“If the authorities do not solve the issue and get permanent solution, then we will call for a protest outside the hotel and the government should not blame us for law and order situation,” Govekar said.

Local sources informed that from the time the hotel has come up, they have been releasing water on the beach.

Meanwhile, when a local took a video of the flowing sewage water and made it viral, on Monday evening, some labourers cleared the sewage water flowing on the beach with dry sand and stopped the flowing water by blocking the pipeline.
