PANJIM: Vagator-based beach shacks and a restaurant were raided by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a joint operation with Goa Police’s Crime Branch on March 12-13. A Swiss national was among five suspects undergoing questioning as a massive quantity of drugs were recovered from their possession. The suspects being interrogated are Nijil Raja, Nihad Chethi Prambath, Joel Mendonsa (DJ), Ajinkya Kalekar and Kenny Marco Frischknecht (Switzerland).
NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhade said that search operations at Ozran Beach in Vagator led to a successful recovery of commercial quantity of LSD (35 blots), 33 grams of mephedrone, 5.1 grams of heroin along with drugs such as marijuana, MDMA tablets and hashish.
“Five persons are apprehended of whom four are Indians and a Swiss national,” he said.
The raid comes following a crackdown across multiple places during the past week wherein three drug dealers hailing from Nigeria, Congo and Madhya Pradesh were taken into custody and huge quantum of drugs was recovered from them. NCB had said, first reported in Herald, that more raids and arrests were imminent.
