PANJIM: Upset with the manner in which the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) continues to use delaying tactics over their complaint against the construction of a concrete wall by a hotel on Vainguinim Beach, the Vainguinim Valley Residents Association (VVRA) on Wednesday pointed out flaws in the latest inspection report.
It may be recalled that the GCZMA, which is the nodal authority dealing with the 14 complaints against the wall, had recently held a personal hearing in the matter last Thursday.
At this hearing, the GCZMA had adjourned the matter to Tuesday, August 24, only to inform the VVRA, one of the two lead complainants, on Tuesday morning itself that the hearing had been adjourned again to next Tuesday, August 31.
The VVRA has expressed their displeasure, the way they were informed about the adjournment, just hours before the hearing was scheduled to take place.
The group has also stated that they are upset with certain discrepancies that have risen regarding the third inspection on the wall, which was carried out by the North Goa Additional Collector-1 in the presence of others including the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records (DSLR) officials.
The GCZMA has already carried out two inspections in the past, despite this, the Authority had decided to hold yet another inspection.
Last Thursday, the GCZMA had submitted a copy of the North Goa Additional Collector-1’s inspection report to the complainants.
“The complainants are aggrieved as a report dated July 5, 2021 bearing reference No F 04/ASW/WDI-WRD/2021-22/109 alleged to be submitted by the Chief Engineer Water Resource Department to the Additional Collector-I, North Goa has not been provided to the complainants. The said report of the Chief Engineer is stated to be enclosed along with the letter dated July 28, 2021 forwarded to the GCZMA by the Additional Collector-I, North Goa,” said the VVRA.
“It is important to note that although this was a third joint inspection being carried out, no reference plan/survey plan was provided to the Chairman of the inspection team, the Additional Collector-1, North Goa, by the GCZMA or DSLR, to understand and refer any queries and objections,” said VVRA.
