Validity of permits, driving licences extended till June 30

PANJIM: In view of the extension of lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the government has allowed extension of validity of the vehicles. 

A government press statement states that citizens were facing difficulties in renewal of validity of various documents related to Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 due to lockdown in the country and closure of transport offices.

 In view of this, it states further, “for the requirements of the validity of the documents under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, it is advised that the validity of fitness, permits of all types, driving licence, registration or any other documents whose extension of validity could not or not likely be processed due to lockdown and which have expired since February 1, 2020 or would expire by June 30, 2020 the same may be treated to be valid till June 30, 2020. Enforcement authorities are advised to treat such documents valid till June 30, 2020.”
