VALPOI: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza on Thursday visited Community Health Centre (CHC) Valpoi and assured to look into issues like shortage of specialized doctors and other staff at CHC Valpoi, besides other long-pending demands of residents of Valpoi.
The health minister went around the new building complex of CHC Valpoi and interacted with patients and the health officer. He also interacted with the hospital’s visiting committee and CHC staff.
Health Officer Dr Surekha Parulekar and Visiting Committee members led by former deputy speaker Narhari Haldankar brought to the notice of D’Souza the issue of staff shortage including specialised doctors, nurses and technicians.
After giving a patient hearing to the grievances of the staff and visiting committee members, D’Souza assured to resolve the issue of shortage of staff by providing very essential staff including gynaecologist and radiologist on priority basis.
D’Souza was accompanied by BJP leaders Satyavijay Naik, Vishwajeet K Rane and others.
The Senior Citizens Forum of Sattari, led by Khutboddin Khan, submitted a memorandum to D’Souza demanding to fill all the vacant posts at CHC Valpoi soon.
They also demanded to install a speed breaker in front of CHC Valpoi and a bus shelter, besides painting of zebra crossing on the road in front of new CHC building.
D’Souza later visited the newly constructed administrative building and interacted with Valpoi Municipal Council Chairperson Ramdas Shirodkar and councillors.
It may be recalled that the new CHC Valpoi building was inaugurated in February last year, but the shifting to this 70-bedded hospital took place recently. It was a long-pending demand of the citizens and NGOs that government should provide specialised doctors at the hospital which caters to the needs of whole of Sattari taluka and surrounding areas.
