SATTARI: Valpoi Police have collected Rs 2,34,800 as fines from those persons found not wearing face masks and for flouting social distancing norms at public places till date.
In all 1174 persons have been fined for violating social distancing norms, not wearing face masks and for spitting in public places.
Most violators were those who were found roaming in market places without face masks. Valpoi police have distributed face masks to the public in the last one year. The police have undertaken drives to spread COVID awareness. The police said they would take stern action in the coming days and along with the enforcement team they would be imposing fines in Valpoi town.
Around 895 persons have been booked and an amount of Rs 1,79,000 has been collected this month.
