VALPOI/PANJIM: The State was shocked after a farmer was allegedly assaulted by Valpoi PI Prajot Fadte and DySP Sagar Ekoskar. After media reports and pressure, the DGP has set up an inquiry into the case but no action has been taken on the policemen yet, neither are they suspended. They continue
to work and potentially influence the handling of evidence.
Everyone is tightlipped when asked about the CCTV footage which should nail the officers.
Hanumanth Parab (victim) has told Herald clearly that he was beaten up brutally in custody by Valpoi PI and later by DySP Sagar Ekoskar. Later he was dragged inside the PI’s cabin. There is a CCTV camera in the PI’s cabin but the police are yet to investigate the case with the help of this footage.
One person at the police station confided, “There are CCTV cameras everywhere in the police station even inside PI’s room, but yet the footage is not taken in for investigation.”
Team Herald TV tried to meet SP North Goa in this regard to know about the status of the inquiry and what action have they taken on Valpoi PI and DySP Ekoskar even after an official complaint has been filed by the farmer, but he was on official leave.
Later Herald tried to meet the additional officer in charge Nidin Valsan but he said doesn’t know much about this case.
