VALPOI: Syed Nagar residents met Valpoi PI Sanjay Dalvi on Thursday to discuss the problems created by Bihari migrants in the village. Amongst other issues, they stated that the safety of local women had been compromised and demanded that the police pack-off unmarried Biharis.
The locals stated that there were several unreported molestation cases in the village, with two incidents in the last two weeks alone. Local Hussain Shaikh stated, “We don’t have a problem if good families stay here, but these bachelor migrants are creating many problems. Every night they drink alcohol, fight, and even indulge in eve-teasing. This is a matter of our women’s safety. This is a long-pending issue which has to be resolved.”
Addressing the police and locals, Valpoi councillor Faimida Khan stated, “Some residents have rented out their rooms to these awful bachelor migrants, who are responsible for many negative incidents in Syed Nagar. Women are not safe here because of such people”.
