PONDA: Former Chief Minister and Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, while expressing victory of Congress candidate Roy Naik in the forthcoming Valpoi bye-election on Sunday, said no dadagiri or goondagiri of rivals would be tolerated in Usgao and Valpoi.
Ravi said Usgao lacked basic development during the past ten years, after it was included into Valpoi from Ponda constituency.
He appealed to voters to cast their votes for development and not to sell their votes, if they wanted overall development of their village and cautioned them to be alert from those who divide them on communal lines for the sake of votes.
The Ponda MLA was speaking at the Congress campaign corner-meeting for its Valpoi candidate.
In his speech, the Congress candidate Roy Naik urged Usgao locals to support him for sake of progress and development and said he had extensively visited Valpoi constituency for the past three months and was of the opinion that except urban regions of the constituencies, the rural areas were neglected and lacked basic facilities including water, road and basic infrastructure.
Also present on the dais were senior citizen Rayu Naik, local panchas Rekha Velingkar, Swathi Kerkar, senior Congressman Ashok Naik, Ritesh Naik and other prominent locals of Avantinagar, Tisk, Usgao.
Social worker Swathi Kerkar said that no democracy prevailed at Valpoi, which was neglected by Vishwajeet Rane and appealed to voters not to fall prey to false promises during election.
Former BJP worker Sanjeev Gawde said Vishwajeet plays revenge politics and thus many were leaving his company.
