VALPOI: Liquor outlet owners are angry that despite there being no highway in the taluka, they too are dragged into the issue of ban ordered by the Supreme Court. “There is no highway in Valpoi and it is the end point. There is no high way to go Belgaum or Karnataka. We are unnecessarily dragged into the issue. This is injustice to us,” says Tukaram Haldankar, an alcohol manufacturer from Valpoi. Incidentally, Haldankar is a representative of liquor outlet owners from Valpoi.
“Our licence is valid till March 31, but till now the Exercise Inspectors have not sent us any letter. So, we hope the government will save us,” said another liquor vendor.
“I will continue buying alcohol stock daily, as I am doing now. We have met Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and he told us that he would find a solution to the ban issue,” said Bandya Gaonkar, a wholesale owner.
