VALPOI: Residents of Nagargao and Sawarde have submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar demanding the construction of a road from Satre to Belgaum via Parwad. They stated that the road would reduce the distance between Valpoi and Belgaum by over 40 kilometres.
The memorandum was handed over to Parsekar when he visited the inauguration function of the Government High School at Nagargao on Sunday.
The villagers informed him that the if the government takes keen interest in constructing the road, many villages will benefit as there would be a greater chance of developing a market at Parwad, and the rate of goods imported from Belgaum would drop due to the reduced travelling distance.
Parsekar assured that the government will not neglect their demand and will fullll it if feasible.
He has already directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct a survey of the site.
