PANJIM: The Valpoi police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly raping and circulating obscene videos of a minor girl on social media to defame her.
Police stated that they have have registered an FIR against one Vishnu Chawan under Goa Children’s Act, Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Information Technology Act.
Police said that the parents of the girl had filed a complaint against the accused earlier this month after which he had gone underground. The man befriended the minor girl, later raped her, clicked obscene videos and later circulated it on social media.
During the investigation, with the help of technical surveillance and informants it was revealed that accused was hiding at Gadak, Karnataka. Police later tracked down the accused at his hideout, arrested and brought him down to Goa.
Further investigations are in progress case.
