VALPOI: All the gutters from the ten wards of Valpoi Municipal council area are broken, damaged and clogged. The works on the gutter undertaken before the monsoon are inadequate, according to locals in all ten wards.
Locals have very bad experiences when the pre-monsoon rains fell three days back in Sattari taluka. All roads of wards were flooded with water entering several homes.
Anil Gurav a resident of ward number one said, “Our ward gutters are broken causing problems. The roads flooded and the water entered our homes. We are experiencing problems while driving vehicles. We demand the Valpoi Municipal council repair all our ward gutters as soon as possible.”
Another local Gurudas Paryekar from ward number two said the pre-monsoon work was not done properly. He claimed after the first rains all the ward gutters were blocked with waste.
Chief Officer Cynthia Mesquita said that she would instruct the labourers to do the pre-monsoon work again. All Councillors would have to put up proposals for new gutters in council meeting and it will have to be passed and later sent to the government.
