In a heartwarming yet tragic episode in Valpoi’s Ustem
village, a senior citizen played the role of a vigilant guardian of nature.
Spotting a badly injured Sambar within the village, he swiftly alerted fellow
villagers to the animal’s plight. Responding to the call for help, a group of
dedicated village youths rushed to rescue the Sambar, showing immense
compassion.
The villagers promptly reached out to the forest rescue
team, who arrived to administer much-needed medical treatment to the injured
Sambar. Despite their valiant attempts, the Sambar’s injuries proved to be
grievous, ultimately leading to its untimely passing.
Subsequent investigations, including a postmortem report,
confirmed that the Sambar had succumbed to severe injuries. This story reflects
the profound connection between communities and their local wildlife and
underscores the challenges faced in safeguarding these majestic creatures in
their natural habitat.
