Valuables, cash worth Rs 12 lakh burgled from Navelim house

MARGAO: In a major daylight burglary in Navelim, culprits decamped with gold and cash worth over Rs 12 lakh. The house of Sheila Parsekar situated behind the Navelim Church was burgled in broad daylight by unknown persons.

According to Sheila, the family had left the home at 8.30 am and when they returned at 2 pm, they found that the front door had been broken into. When the family checked the rooms, they found the cupboards ransacked and gold worth Rs 8-9 lakh and cash of Rs 1.40 were missing. 
The missing gold ornaments include gold rings, chains, mangalsutra and a necklace. Margao town police went to the site and later a dog squad was also called in for investigation.
