CANACONA: A Maruti Omni van parked on the road side caught fire at Tamne, Poinguinim, on Saturday.
No one was inside the van when the incident happened. Canacona police informed that on a complaint from Pandurang Prabhuagrasani, a resident of Poinguinim and owner of the van (GA-02-J-9886), they have registered a complaint.
Sources informed that Pandurang had parked the vehicle and was a little distance away when the van caught fire possibly due to short circuit.
As there was no one in the van or nearby area no untoward incident was reported.
Later, personnel from Canacona Fire Station arrived and doused the raging flames but till that time the van was totally gutted.
