CUNCOLIM: Considering the criticality of oxygen for COVID patients during the second wave, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar arranged for a van with five oxygen concentrators powered by two generators and emergency medicines.
Inaugurating the service Kavlekar said, “The concept behind this is that no life should be lost even in rural Goa. Every life is precious and we have learnt from the Cyclone Tauktae that even during worse COVID times, we have to be prepared for even worst situation that may arise due to lack of power and transport.”
Speaking further Kavlekar informed, “Learning from the experiences we decided to get this custom fitted van all the way from Mumbai. This van will serve not only the Quepem taluka, but also Canacona, Sanguem, Dharbandora and Salcete. The rural patients should not suffer during critical times he said and people can call any of our helpline numbers that are manned 24 hours to avail the service.”
Kavlekar is already operating a 24hours COVID call center, where by patients in need of transport facility to COVID hospitals are availing the same.
