Varca/Colva: Goa is shocked with the brutal murder of 80-year old senior citizen Trinidade Martins.

The village of Varca is grappling with both shock and infamy. While the focus surely is on the daughter’s alleged role in the murder and/or its execution, top forensic sources have told Herald, that they are “giving very deep” in the post mortem examination. “A preliminary report has been filed but we are leaving nothing to chance and will send a more detailed report which will entail minute details of the manner of assault”.

Also under investigation is who all were present on the spot on the fateful day of the murder and whether her daughter was a part of the team of assailants or not.

Secondly, if there were paid killers it would bring another shocking hateful dimension to the incident wherein hired assassins were used for a family killing.

The main suspect Jubel Martins, arrested for allegedly murdering her 80-year-old father Trinidade Martins, is currently in police custody.

Colva Police Station Police Inspector Melson Colaco produced her before the court praying for a remand to conduct further investigation, which was granted. Police had registered an offence under Section 302 of Indian Penal Court for committing murder and under Section 449 of IPC for criminally trespassing into the house.

Meanwhile, Team Herald visited the spot of crime to get more information on Tuesday. The house of the deceased person was still locked. Meanwhile, Jubel’s arrest evoked strong reactions from the neighbours.

One of the neighbours told team Herald that after marriage, Jubel hardly came to meet her father and whenever she came, there used to be heated arguments and misunderstanding.

Another local said that no one expected the daughter would do this to her own father.

“Few days back there was a group of people who came to measure the property where the deceased Trinidade Martins lived. But killing one’s own family member is beyond imagination,” the neighbour said.

“Blood is thicker than water it is said. But after this incident, I am having doubts,” the neighbour added.

Another source in Varca said that some unknown people took rounds on Saturday and Sunday near the deceased’s home.

In the investigation process the fingerprints experts and the dog squad had already arrived on Thursday night and conducted their investigation.
