margao: The elections for the post of Varca Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch will be held on January 22.
It may be recalled that when the panchayat elections were held, Roland Fernandes was elected as the Sarpanch of Varca.
Subsequently Roland resigned and Reginaldo Rodrigues was elected the sarpanch while Vincentina Fernandes, who incidentally is the wife of Roland, was the deputy sarpanch. But the panchas were not happy with Reginaldo; and in a no confidence motion the panchayat members voted out of office, both the sarpanch and the deputy.
