MARGAO: The Varca panchayat has assured to initiate action against those owners who have sublet their shacks located in the village to outsiders.
During the recent gram sabha chaired by Deputy Sarpanch Roland Fernandes, the members highlighted the issue of beach shacks, originally allocated by the Tourism Department, being sublet to individuals from outside the State. In response, the gram sabha resolved that the Panchayat should conduct surprise inspections of these beach shacks.
Addressing media persons, the Deputy Sarpanch stated that the panchayat also plans to utilise CCTV to verify shack ownership before contacting the Tourism Department if run by outsiders. They would then ask the Tourism Department to revoke the licence.
The locals raised concerns about traffic congestion due to the presence of traffic personnel at narrow road junctions in the village and urged the panchayat to communicate with the Traffic Cell to prevent personnel from contributing to traffic jams on these roads.
The members addressed the issue of power fluctuations in the village.
The Deputy Sarpanch assured that the work on improving the power infrastructure in the village is being taken up and will be completed soon.
