PERNEM: Varkhand-Nagzar panchayat passed resolution objecting to new road from Dhargal to Mopa Airport. A special gram sabha was called by Sarpanch Sanjay Tulaskar at Tulaskarwadi Nagzar to discuss the issue of new roads and aerocity.
During the gram sabha, villagers raised strong objection to the proposed new road from Dhargal to Mopa Airport as they have learnt that the road is passing through the village.
Villagers further objected to Aerocity for which vast areas of land have been acquired. Villagers said that they are not going to allow any city as well as demand the government to return back acquired land to the owners.
“Thousands of fruit bearing trees and samplings have been cut, including cashew, mango and others which were source of livelihood to the farmers. Government should compensate the farmers for these trees taking into consideration the next thirty years these trees could have given us yield,” the villagers.
During the gram sabha, villagers also said that the government has come up with such major projects without taking the villagers into confidence and by bypassing the Panchayats. Villagers also alleged that the reason why government is trying to have PDAs in the State is that they could directly pass any project by bypassing Panchayats.
Villagers also claimed that surveys are being conducted in the forest area behind their backs.
“We are going to fight vigorously but will not allow any road and aerocity here even if government tries to bulldoze its way, it will be stopped by the villagers together. If the proposed road from Dhargal to Mopa Airport comes up then all the houses, cashew plantation and water sources will be destroyed,” villagers claimed.
Villagers also said that they are totally dependent on the agriculture and farming activities for their living. People are unemployed and till date only the farming and cashew plantations have kept them alive and now due to Covid, they are totally helpless.
Meanwhile Sarpanch Sanjay Tulaskar said, “The Panchayat will be with the villagers. The decisions taken in the gram sabha will be conveyed to the concerned authorities.”
