PANJIM: Goa Trinamool Congress (TMC) National Vice-President Pavan Varma on Wednesday alleged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for being anti-Hindu. “BJP envisions a cultural monolith. They are using Hinduism for their short-term political gains. They are not pro-Hindu,” said Varma.

Addressing the media Varma further said, “TMC Party vows to safeguard the identity and cultural heritage of Goa, which is under the attack of BJP.”

Alleging both the ruling and opposition parties, Varma further said, “While the BJP has a model of cultural monolith, which goes against the vibrant plurality of Goa, the Congress has an institutional indifference to culture.”

Announcing at a press meet that the TMC has promised funds worth up to 25 lakh for the preservation and maintenance of all Goan heritage sites, Shivdas Naik said, “The party is sincere in expanding Goa’s tourism sector and safeguarding the cultural, ecological and heritage hotspots across the state. Once after coming to power, the TMC will identify these hotspots and develop them into Tourism Circuits
