VASCO: The Varunapuri to Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) flyover project, which has been stopped for several months, is not due to lack of funds but for not obtaining the approval from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for including some variations in the project.
The much awaited project which started in the year 2017 has now hit the roadblock not due to the pending bill of Rs 23.4 crore but for not obtaining the technical approval from the NHAI headquarter, New Delhi to include some variations in the project, informed Premanand Dodamani, officer incharge NHAI Mormugao.
Commenting over the stopped work of the flyover, Dodamani felt that the contractor should have kept the work going instead of stopping it. Payment is not an issue; the contractor will receive his money, once he put up his payment bills before the department.
It may be recalled that General Manager of Gamon India Pvt Ltd had said that the work is moving at a snail’s pace due to the pending bill. Funds are needed to speed up this incomplete project.
General Manager had informed that they have commenced the work but it is ongoing at a slow pace as the bill is pending with PWD Department which was approved. But National Highway Authority of India has not yet paid us the amount.
