VASCO: The long pending Vasco fish market project which was incomplete for the last two decades is now almost complete and will be ready within the next four months.
Vasco MLA Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar along with the Mormugao Municipal Council chairperson Girish Borker, councillors, consultant and representatives of Vasco fish market vendors on Thursday held a site inspection of the fish market which is nearing completion.
Salkar said that the fish market project was taken up following discussions with representatives of Vasco fish market vendors. The construction of market building is almost complete and finishing works would be completed within next few months so that the market is ready for inauguration, he said.
During the site inspection, the representatives of Vasco fish market vendors were given detailed features of the building such as seating arrangement pattern, tiling facilities and the adequate space provided for the people visiting the fish market.
There will be eight entry points for the market, two each on either side besides, a cold storage facility for the vendors, spaces for vendors selling dry fish on the first floor and fruit vendors to be accommodated on the second floor.
