VASCO: Fish vendors from the Vasco Fish Market shed were issued identity cards and certificates on Monday.
Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) chief officer Jayant Tari inspected the old Vasco Fish Market along with the municipal staff.
MMC community organiser said a few days ago some government identity proof documents and photographs were collected from these fish vendors and on Monday identity cards were distributed to some vendors. The remaining identity cards will be prepared and distributed to other vendors on Wednesday.
Later, a fish vendor said, “On Monday we were given identity cards by MMC and we will be shifting to the new temporary shed only after our demands to clear the illegal wholesalers outside the fish market and assurance on shifting fish vendors into new fish market once completed is fulfilled.”
