The local fishermen community in Vasco raised a range of issues with the Union Minister of Fisheries Parshottam Rupala on Friday at Vasco. Rupala held a short interactive program with the fishing community at Vasco under the programme Sagar Parikrama -2023.
The members of the fishing community demanded the renovation of the Khareband jetty, and the regularization of houses at Baina and requested the implementation of an insurance scheme for fishing gear among other things. Rupala stated that he will work towards resolving the issues of the fishermen.
The fifth phase of the ‘Sagar Parikrama’, aims to resolve issues of fishermen and ease their economic upliftment through various schemes, covering coastal districts of Goa.
