VASCO: It is going to be yet another Carnival without good roads in Vasco. All the major roads including the Swatantra Path, F L Gomes road and all internal roads are in a bad state at this moment. According to the PWD, the roads are getting a tar carpet not before end of March.
The PWD roads section has informed that tarring of most of the internal and the F L Gomes road is going to happen only at the end of March.
At present, the internal roads in Vasco are in a very bad state due neglect for the last several years. The Assistant Engineer of PWD roads section said that the work of the road tarring was supposed to be done earlier, but due to the work of sewerage manhole lid, tarring has been delayed further.
PWD Assistant Engineer P M Naik said that the tender for F L Gomes road has been done and the tarring of road from St Andrew’s Church till the IOC junction would be taken up not before end of March.
The Engineer, however, said that the work of tarring internal roads of Vasco town is yet to be approved and would be delayed even further. The issue of booking slots at the hot-mix plant has also dampened the speed of the work.
