Vasco locals fume as NHAI goofs up with names on signboards

VASCO: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rectified the errors in spellings of the locations on some of the signboards; however, the mistakes still exist on the old sign boards which is confusing for the visitors. Locals have expressed the need for NHAI officials to replace the old signboards with correct spellings of the locations.

“NHAI while erecting the signboards have christened the names of many villages. While the names sound funny to the locals, it is confusing for the visitors. The Authority has taken care while replacing some of the signboards but there are some old boards which need rectification,” said one of the Vasco locals.

“NHAI has written the spellings of Margao, Ponda and Panaji properly on the board at Zuarinagar, Dabolim. However, the board at Dabolim-Bogmalo square spelt the names written in Devanagari wrongly such as Maargo for Margao, Bogmlo for Bogmaalo and Verna to Varna. The Authority must correct these errors as soon as possible,” said another local.
