VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council chairperson, who is facing a no-confidence motion, now stands accused of corruption by none other than his own ‘patron’ and Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida.
However, Chairperson Kritesh Gaunkar has termed the allegations of Almeida as false and that the MLA has levelled the allegations as he “is jealous of the developmental works initiated by me (Gaunkar) in the port town.”
Almeida has alleged that Gaunkar, as the chairman of a school committee, accepted money to give job to a teacher. Secondly, during Saptah festival, Gaunkar had taken money from the giant wheel owner.
Gaunkar appealed to the people of Vasco to compare the works carried out by him in all wards during the last six months that he has been the chairperson and the works carried out by Almeida in past few years.
