Vasco MLA failed to bring in development projects: Ex-MMC councillor

VASCO: Former Mormugao Municipal Council councillor Krishna (Daji) Salkar on Tuesday blamed Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida for his failure to bring developmental projects in Port Town during his present tenure as a legislator.

Salkar gave credit to Urban Development Minister Milind Naik for his support to carry out various developmental works in his ward.

He blamed the MLA for his failure to bring developmental projects and works in the Vasco during his tenure.

“The 14th Finance Commission funds although is to be used for the wards development but then all the councillors decided to give that fund for a developmental project in Vasco so that it will benefit people. But sadly, there is no work progress could be seen and now some councillors are feeling that atleast they should have utlised that fund for their ward-wise developmental public works instead of giving it to the project which is yet to start,” he said while addressing a press conference in the Port Town.

“The five-year MMC’s term got over on November 4 and in these years whatever works we took up were possible because of the support of my supporters and Urban Development Minister Milind Naik,” he added.

When asked Salkar about putting his candidates for the municipal election, he revealed four to five members will contest this time.
