VASCO: Vasco Police took Pratima Naik, the prime accused in the Vasco double murder, to the crime scene to ascertain and reconstruct the sequence of events.
Vasco PI Sagar Ekoskar and a police team took Pratima and some witnesses to the flat, where Pratima is alleged to have murdered her sister-in-law Neha and mother-in-law Usha, in the wee hours of Friday.
Pratima did not show any remorse about the crime which she had allegedly committed.
When PI Ekoskar sought to know how she had passed on the stolen gold ornaments to her accomplice about three months ago, Pratima replied with a smile on her face that she had thrown the gold, which was wrapped in a cloth, through the dining hall grills to her accomplice, who was standing outside.
Later, Pratima was taken inside the flat which was guarded by two police constables to record her statement in the double murder. Ekoskar also recorded the statement of the two witnesses, who were present in the flat early Friday morning, before police could arrive at the site.
According to neighbours, Usha used to sleep separately in another room, while Neha and Pratima used to sleep in their respective bedrooms.
“Usha began suspecting that someone was visiting the flat at night. In order to keep a check on such movement, Usha started sleeping in the hall,” the source said. “This was the reason why Usha was found murdered in the hall,” said a neighbour.
