VASCO: The Vasco police on Saturday arrested Nasim Mohammed, 35, a resident of Kharewado-Vaddem on the charge of raping a minor girl at Vasco.
The police arrested the accused based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother. The incident came to light after the mother referred her daughter to the sub-district hospital at Chicalim where the doctors told her that the minor was pregnant. The hospital also informed the Vasco police about the pregnancy of a minor girl.
Upon investigation it was revealed that the girl was raped by her relative Nasim. Through technical help the police arrested the accused while he was evading the arrest. He was traced at New Vaddem, and was immediately placed under arrest.
The Vasco police have registered a case against Nasim Mohammed under sections 376 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), Section 8 (2) of Goa Children’s Act and Section 4, 8 and 12 of POCSO Act. Further investigations are on under the guidance of Vasco PI Kapil Nayak.
