VASCO: The Vasco Police on Friday arrested Jaffer Qadri (20), native of Uttar Pradesh on charges of kidnapping a 14-year-old minor girl from Dabolim.
According to Vasco Police Station Police Inspector Kapil Nayak, the accused allegedly kidnapped the girl on May 30 and took her to Mumbai.
Following a complaint by the victim’s father, the police registered a case and started the investigations. Based on reliable information, a police team was sent to Dahanu Mumbai and with the help of Kopar Khairane Police, conducted a search operation and arrested the accused and rescued the victim.
Meanwhile, the police have referred the victim for medical examination and report is awaited.
A case has been registered against Qadri under Section 363 of IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act. Further investigations are on, the police said.
