Vasco police crack the whip against errant motorists

32 drivers booked for violations, 2 two-wheelers seized

VASCO: The Vasco police have launched a campaign against violators of the Motor Vehicles Act in the backdrop of recent mishaps that have happened in the port town.

The police penalised 32 errant drivers and also seized two two-wheelers.

Vasco MLA Daji Salkar, DySP Salim Shaikh and PI Kapil Nayak have appealed to the parents not to give vehicles to their minor children.

“Two women have lost their lives just within 15 days due to the rash driving by minors and the police have started this campaign to keep watch on them, their parents as well as the ones who lend them their vehicles,” said Salkar.

“The minors do not really have a sense of responsibility and drive recklessly due to which  accidents take place. Parents should not allow their minor children to drive as it puts everyone at risk,” said DySP Shaikh.
