Krishna Salkar on Monday launched pre-monsoon desilting and deweeding works of nullahs, channels, and key waterways across Vasco through the Water Resources Department as part of flood prevention measures ahead of the monsoon season.
Speaking at the inauguration held at Khapreshwar Temple in Belabai, in the presence of Girish Borkar, local residents, and WRD officials, Salkar said timely desilting activities along with the construction of new nullahs and cross drains at critical locations would help Vasco achieve zero flooding for the fourth consecutive year.

Officials from the Water Resources Department assured that all flood-prone areas in Vasco would be addressed before the onset of the monsoon.
Speaking about the proposed Vasco Kadamba Bus Stand project, Salkar said the final announcement date is currently on hold as authorities plan to conduct a detailed public presentation for the people of Mormugao. He stated that the presentation is nearly complete, with only auxiliary service details and photographic documentation of ongoing works still pending.
“We want to assure the people that water, electricity, sewerage, and traffic systems will not be affected. By the first week of June, we will present the complete plan before the people of Mormugao. This Kadamba Bus Stand project is not only for Vasco but for the entire Mormugao taluka,” Salkar said.
On the issue concerning the Mormugao Port Authority Baina Gate, Salkar said a meeting with Pramod Sawant is scheduled for today during which the matter will be discussed.
