Vasco taxi driver arrested for providing drugs to tourist

The police also found that the taxi driver did not have a valid driving licence.

MAPUSA: The Calangute police arrested Prathamesh Palyekar, 28, a resident of Mangor Hill, Vasco for allegedly providing drugs to a Hyderabad tourist at Calangute.

As per the information given by Calangute PI Dattaguru Sawant, Devinani Chaudhry from Hyderabad arrived at the Dabolim Airport last week and travelled to Calangute in a taxi. He was later admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim after suffering a drug overdose in the hotel. 

Calangute police filed a complaint against him and during interrogation, he disclosed to the police that drugs were provided to him by a taxi driver from Vasco.

Based on the tourist’s description, Calangute PI Dattaguru Sawant with PSI Kiran Naik and others intercepted the taxi driver Palyekar at Aldona and detained him. The police also found that Palyekar did not have a valid driving licence.
