VASCO: Taking cognizance of a Herald report, the Mormugao Municipal Council would very soon implement pay parking at various important and prime locations in Vasco, informed Chairperson, Lavina D’Souza. She said this in her reaction to the article Parking mess in Vasco, city lacks traffic discipline, dated May 14, 2015.
“It is true that the scenario of traffic indiscipline is becoming worse day-by-day and thus there is need to impose pay parking at various important places in Vasco.” D’Souza told Herald.
She also mentioned that Vasco city faces another problem where many vehicle owners who work in other cities of the state park their vehicles in front of government offices and other important parking places thereby blocking the prime parking slots. “
The city presently has around 3278 parking facilities available at all prime locations in Vasco out of which 675 slots are earmarked for four wheelers and 2603 slots have been identified for two wheelers; however, the ground reality is that only 60 per cent of the total available parking spots can be put to use and the remaining 40 per cent is wasted and imposing of pay parking will somewhat bring relief to the citizens Besides, its will also help bring parking discipline in the city
