Vasco: The Vasco vegetable market traders have decided to voluntarily shut down their shops from Sunday evening due to the rising COVID cases. The market might remain shut for the next eight days.
Speaking to the media, Prashant Naik, president of Vasco Vegetable vendors Association, said, “we saw the video of Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson in which he has urged us to voluntarily shut down the vegetable market as recently a vegetable vendor was suspected to have tested CoVID positive”.
Naik said during the voluntary shut down the vegetable vendors will distribute veggies in a vehicle on the roadside at various points wherein people can buy the vegetables.
He also urged the people not to panic and restore to panic buying as the vegetable supply will be adequate. He also appealed to the people to follow social distancing norms and wear masks while buying vegetables and use hand sanitisers.
