Vasco youth stabbed to death over previous enmity

VASCO: In a shocking incident reported in the port town, one Mehboob Shaikh, (27), a resident of New Vaddem was stabbed to death due to previous enmity on Sunday afternoon. 

The Vasco Police have arrested 24-year-old taxi driver Anthony Fernandes in this connection. 

According to the police, Fernandes allegedly stabbed Shaikh in the chest following a scuffle over their previous enmity. The incident occurred near a temple at New Vaddem. 

The police said Shaikh sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital at Chicalim where the doctors on duty declared him brought dead.  

Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh said that the motive for the crime was their previous enmity. 

He said the matter between the two is pending before the court. The victim was helping his family in their furniture business at Vasco. 

He said that following the scuffle, Shaikh first assaulted Fernandes with a bat and the accused in a fit of rage, allegedly stabbed him with a knife.

The police immediately detained the accused who was later placed under arrest after conducting investigation. 

The police have registered a case of murder against Fernandes under Section 302 of the IPC and PSI Mayur Sawant is investigating the case under the guidance of Vasco PI Kapil Nayak and supervision of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
