A resident from Vasco was allegedly assaulted by the staff of a newly opened club at Arpora over non-payment of a bet.
In a police complaint filed with the Anjuna police, the victim, Abhijit Salgaocar has stated that he had won a bet while playing a game, but the club staff denied to make the bet payment.
Salgaocar further stated that when he and his three other accomplices demanded CCTV footage from the staff to justify their stand, the staff refused to show him the CCTV footage and allegedly denied to make the payment.
Salgaocar stated that the six staff, including security in charge and club manager, allegedly took him out of the club and assaulted him, thereby causing grievous injuries on his face.
According to sources, Salgaocar, who is working in Canada, has recently come down to Goa and was scheduled to fly back in few days.
Sources in Anjuna police inform that the club staff has claimed that Salgaocar and his friends had violated the norms of the game and had created chaos.
Mapusa police DySP Sammy Tavares informed that Anjuna police has registered an offence against the club manager, security in charge and four others under Sections 143, 147, 148, 324 r/w 149 IPC.
