VASCO: St Andrew’s Church, Vasco parishioners along with the locals from Vaddem area together undertook cleaning work of the Vaddem Lake.
St Andrew’s Church parish priest urged the visitors to keep the lake and its surrounding clean and not to misuse the place.
On Saturday morning, around hundred Vaddem locals including St Andrew’s Church parishioners gathered at the Vaddem Lake and undertook the work of cleaning the lake by removing overgrown green moss and algae from the water.
Speaking to the Herald, St Andrew’s Church Parish Priest Fr Gabriel Coutinho said that he read in the newspaper about the overgrown moss in the lake and then on Saturday along with some hundred parishioners and residents of Vaddem took up the cleaning of moss from the water.
When asked whether they completely cleaned the lake, Fr Coutinho stated that much of the removal of moss has been done. Little which is left will be cleaned sooner whenever it is possible.
He also urged the people and visitors not to litter garbage waste or misuse the beautiful place by drinking in the vicinity.
It may be recalled that Herald newspaper recently highlighted the sorry state of the Vaddem Lake and brought it to the attention of the people and authorities. People with civic sense and social responsibility came together and did a commendable job of cleaning the lake.
