Vascoites demand MMC action against ‘illegal’ fruit vendors

VASCO: The residents of Vasco have demanded that the Mormugao Municipal Council’s (MMC) market committee initiate action against vendors selling fruits on handcarts, who the locals claim are conducting business without a valid licence.

The locals claimed that the MMC has turned blind eye to these vendors operating by the roadside where Cine Vasco used to be.

The MMC has allotted space for handcart owners but instead of carrying out their business there, they have set up their carts by the roadside.

The locals claimed that market committee supervisors only pretend to take action and after a few days everything is back to square one.

Interestingly, the MMC is just a stone’s throw away from the spot and yet the civic body has blatantly ignored the illegal activity, they alleged.
